The app comes with classic Tabata setup out of the box, 8 sets – 20 seconds on – 10 seconds off, all you have to do is press play. As you gain more experience you can setup your own presets for different interval durations, number of sets or cycles. The app includes different beep cues, including halfway and three seconds, voice assist feedback and of course music playlists. All of these make for an excellent workout without having to constantly look at the screen.
The Apple Health app is supported and the Tabata app will write your Tabata workout times, calorie burned estimates and heart rates (need a chest strap heart rate monitor and Pro upgrade) after each workout.
