Description
### Test your central nervous system! ###
The Central Nervous System (CNS) tap test is a proven way to measure overall nervous system performance. It is adapted from the widely used Finger Oscillation Test (FOT) and the Finger Tap Test (FTT). This app will help you collect empirical data to help you track and understand your own evolving health status. Moreover, it provides the potential to reveal hidden patterns which, if understood could lead to insights on strategies to improve health.
This test is used by everyone from world-class athletes to help predict performance, to people with Parkinson's Disease (PD), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) to track symptoms, episodes, and on/off periods. The app tracks how many taps you can do in 10 seconds, and how consistent your taps are from one to the next.
Users first establish a baseline, and then use the app on a periodic basis – typically daily at the same time each day – to track the changes in highs and lows of the central nervous system. The app generates a graph showing changes over time, and also shows raw data, which may be exported to any spreadsheet program.
To begin the test, first pick the hand you would like to test (left or right). Then begin tapping the center tap button repeatedly as fast as you can with your forefinger for 10 seconds. Be sure your palm is flat against a hard surface with your forefinger hovering above the button. After 10 seconds, the app will ask if you would like to save the test.
Designed and developed with love in-house in Seattle, Washington, USA. The app is under continuous development and we will be adding great new features soon!
This app is also popular in the QS or Quantified Self community.
